BRAIN TEASER of Biblical Proportions - Part II

BRAIN TEASER!
(Part II)

Out of 66 books of the Bible (well I think 56 without the double and triple books), the names of 22 books of the Bible are "hidden" in the paragraph below. This one is a little more difficult than the previous 'Brain Teaser' that was posted on the blog back on Oct 1st of last year. If you would like to try the first Brain Teaser before attempting this one, click HERE!

Now for Brain Teaser Part II. How many can you find in the paragraph below? Remember there are 22 hidden in all...

One man from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat. Roy Clark studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Victs mentioned it in her column once. One woman judges the job to be so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help calm her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot … that’s a fact. Some people will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. The truth is, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or scholar to see some of them at the worst. Something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have. Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation may help, books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. And punctuation or spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete. Remember, there are 22 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph.

God Bless!

Guest Blogger: Editor Jennifer Moody "Just Write!"

Just Write!

I have several ideas for this guest blog that T Denise Clary has invited me to do here monthly. Some are editorial and grammar related, and I started putting one together but couldn’t get into the groove. I wasn’t in the mood. I just was not in the mood to tell you do’s and don’ts. I felt like my hair was in a tight bun and my glasses were on the tip of my nose as I looked over them sternly at you. I just felt like writing something fun. Sooo… that’s my topic this month:
Write what you want, write what you feel … just write!

Seriously… sometimes you have to break the rules (be it the “official” ones or your own) and just do what feels right. I went on Google and searched “writing rules for fiction” and Google found about 122 million (I love how Google says “about”) search results. My jaw dropped. That’s a lot of rules. And assuming each result probably has multiple rules (I didn’t click on anything but I bet they’re mostly lists) it’s probably safe to say it’s closer to a billion. Who the heck made all these? A bunch of bossy people would be my guess. And to that I say… pishaaaaah!! (If you’re from my generation, sing a little Twisted Sister with me… “We’re not gonna take it, oh no, we ain’t gonna take it…”)

Rules exist for a reason, and writing rules have their own very good reasons. And hey, I’m not a complete writing-rule-rebel … I’m an Editor for goodness sake. It’s just that sometimes rules need to be ignored so you can do what it is that you do … freelance writing. Sometimes, if you set the rule book up on a high shelf, and sit down and write from your heart, you might find that you’ve created the best piece of work in your writing history. Some of the most interesting, entertaining books I’ve ever read were major writing rule breakers. You just never know what you might create if you let yourself be a little rebel once in a while. (I swear, now I’m singing Billy Idol’s Rebel Yell. Somebody pull me out of the 80s.)

So, if you have a story idea in your head that you KNOW would be so cool told in the first person (insert scary music), or some other story idea that is one of the big rule breakers you’ve heard a hundred times, I say just do it! G’head – do it! Who’s going to stop you? There’s no writing police looking over your shoulder as you type. The best way to write is to actually WRITE, and if you have a desire to write something in a nonconforming way, give it a shot and see what happens. Worst case scenario it stinks and you chunk it. So what? You still had fun. And you get that ten year old story idea to quit tickling your brain.
Next month I’ll probably have my glasses on the tip of my nose, giving you stern looks. This time though … I felt like letting my hair down.

Happy writing, everyone!

New Bible Verse ~ Sunday, March 26th

Sorry for the late posting.  Even though it's really Monday, this is a new Bible verse posted as of Sunday, March 26th...Have a great week!

Luke 6:37-38 (ESV)
37 "Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you."

"GOOD MORNING" - Welcome Guest Blogger Jade Gold

GOOD MORNING!

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” Psalm 37:23-24 (NLT)

It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking God doesn't know the small details of our lives or may even be concerned. I'm here to remind you that ALL the details matter to our Father. Despite our failures, despite the times we realize our own mistakes, HE CARES! Spend time with your Father this morning, hold His hand and allow His Love, Kindness and Grace to be with you before you start your day to remind you that He is DELIGHTED to be your Father. Make today Rock! - Jade Gold

Jade Gold is a busy mother of two. When she is not running around with her children, she is busy running her thriving businesses. Jade is the CEO and owner of PropRock (www.proprock.com), a special event and decor company based in Houston, Texas with other locations in the Austin and San Antonio areas. She also owns the Texas Academy for Business Etiquette where Biblical principles are intertwined with "old school teaching" to, "leverage good communication and etiquette in the world as we know it." And if all of the above doesn't keep her busy enough, Jade also owns a T-Shirt line called, "The Truth Rocks," where a percentage of the proceeds go towards teen scholarships. Another Social Media Site...WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!

UGH!!!  In my quest to scale down my web presence (i.e. read my post regarding, "My Addiction to Online Social Media Sites..." ), I have joined yet another online social media site!! LOL!

Along with being on Blogger, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and I think a few others...now you can add Pinterest to the list. I just joined Pinterest last night and still haven't completely figured out how to navigate through the site, but I am always eager to learn something new! And Pinterest happens to be the latest "IT" thing for social media.

What is Pinterest do you ask? Well, this is taken directly from the Pinterest site...

"Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests."

I haven't created any "boards" or "pinned" anything yet, but I will eventually. You can follow me on any of the social media sites I mentioned above by clicking on the "FOLLOW via..." images at the right side of this blog. You can also access my Pinterest account by clicking on the Pinterest icon below.

HAPPY SOCIALMEDIAIZING!

Read Across America & the Benefits of Reading to Your Child!

My apologies for my late posting and not posting this on March 2nd...but last Friday was NEA's Read Across America Day!

The National Education Association (NEA) began "Read Across America" as an annual program geared towards motivating children in every community to celebrate reading on March 2nd, the birth date of Theodor Seuss Geisel a.k.a. Dr. Suess.

Don't worry if you missed the actual day, it's never a bad idea to read to your child on a daily basis. Here are 10 reasons to read to your child daily:

1. Building a stronger relationship between you and your child.
2. Developing a higher aptitude for learning.
3. Developing basic or better speech skills.
4. Learning the basics of how to read.
5. Developing better communication skills.
6. Learning the fundamentals of language.
7. Developing logical thinking skills.
8. Acclamation to new experiences.
9. Developing enhanced concentration and discipline skills.
10. Learning that reading is fun!

For more information about Read Across America, check out NEA's website HERE.

Happy National Pig Day!

Did you know, OR FORGET, it was National Pig Day?!?!?!  LOL

Well I don't exactly know what 'National Pig Day' means or what it celebrates ~ ummmmm well I'm guessing it celebrates pigs ~ here's a link (I found on the Writer Beware page that alerted me to this very important day) which showcases "The Greatest Oinkers In Literature" for National Pig Day!

I thought it was hilarious that some people actually celebrate a 'National Pig Day,' so I thought, "why not join in on the celebration" -- Hey...any excuse to celebrate, right?  HaHaHa

God Bless!
