True Love and Affection!

Such a powerful message...I thought I'd share this video!

VIDEO: "True Love and Affection - Narayanan Krishnan"

After watching the video, a few Bible verses came to mind...

Isaiah 58:10 (NIV)
And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.

Matthrew 25:35 (NIV)
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.

Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.

Deuteronomy 15:10 (NIV)
Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

1 Corinthians 13:3 (NIV)
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)
But since you excel in everything - in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you - see that you also exel in this grace of giving.

I hope this message was as inspirational to you as it was for me.  :-)

God Bless!

No Worries ~ "Hakuna Matata"!!

Have you heard of the phrase "Hakuna Matata"? Well if you are anything like me ~ knee deep in kid stuff ~ you would have at one point in your existence heard of the catchy little song from the Lion King movie.

About two weekends ago, my 2 year old and I engaged in watching the Lion King movie over and over AND over again!! At her insistence of course ~ WINK WINK! I can't count how many times we watched the movie. I watched it so many times, I found myself singing the songs in the movie even after I had long stopped watching it. One song in particular, "Hakuna Matata", was one of our favorites... OK, my favorite.  If you have never seen the movie or heard the song before, here it is...

Watch the scene from this movie clip of The Lion King

Just like the song spells out, Hakuna Matata literally means "No Worries" or loosely "Don't Worry" in the Swahili language. In the movie, the phrase is used as a "problem free philosophy" and is meant to ease all worries.

As my 2 year old and I continued to sing the song over and over again, I thought to myself, "what a GREAT idea"!?! To have a problem free philosophy whenever life's little mishaps get the better of me.Well I don't normally go around saying "Hakuna Matata" when something goes awry in my life or I'm not having the best day. However, I do like the idea of having a certain phrase to say that will help ease worries, stresses and/or anxiety that occasionally pop up from time to time.

So of course, what is the first thing that came to mind when I thought about a problem free 'phrase' I can rely on when needed? Well not so much a phrase, but a NAME!

THE NAME!!

The ONE and ONLY NAME!!!

How about the mighty NAME(s) of GOD!!!! What else but the mighty name(s) of God can ease our worries, stresses, hurts, anxiety, and so forth.  (See 'Names of God' below) And there are so many names to choose from, simply because He is MY everything...our EVERYTHING! One of my personal favorites is the name "Jehovah Shalom" meaning The Lord of Peace.

So there you have it! I've found my very own phrase, so-to-speak! WINK

JEHOVAH SHALOM!! (Although it's pretty difficult to narrow it down to just one--I think I will interchangeably use a few depending on the circumstance - WINK WINK).

How about you? Do you need a "problem free philosophy ~ Hakuna Matata" phrase in your life?? Why not try one of God's names to ease your worries!!

You can search the list below to find yours ;-)

God Bless!

New Bible Verse ~ Sunday, Oct 23rd

New Bible verse posted as of October 23rd...Have a great week!

Isaiah 55:10-11 (NIV)

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Is Amazon Becoming a Publishing House?? Yes!

Is Amazon now becoming a publishing house and competing with traditional publishers with their latest addition?

This appears to be the case. Apparently Amazon has set up a flagship line run by publishing veteren, Laurence Kirshbaum, to bring out brand-name fiction and non-fiction, according to a New York Times article. Amazon has already signed its first deal AND also paid actress/director Penny Marshall $800,000 to publish her memoir. Another self-pub author's, Laurel Saville, book is scheduled to be published by Amazon next month.

You can read the full article here:  http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/17/technology/amazon-rewrites-the-rules-of-book-publishing.html?pagewanted=all

The news definitely changes the playing field quite a bit. For some, this is great news...for others, not so much.

Where do you weigh in?

God Bless!
