About two weekends ago, my 2 year old and I engaged in watching the Lion King movie over and over AND over again!! At her insistence of course ~ WINK WINK! I can't count how many times we watched the movie. I watched it so many times, I found myself singing the songs in the movie even after I had long stopped watching it. One song in particular, "Hakuna Matata", was one of our favorites... OK, my favorite. If you have never seen the movie or heard the song before, here it is...
Watch the scene from this movie clip of The Lion King
Just like the song spells out, Hakuna Matata literally means "No Worries" or loosely "Don't Worry" in the Swahili language. In the movie, the phrase is used as a "problem free philosophy" and is meant to ease all worries.
As my 2 year old and I continued to sing the song over and over again, I thought to myself, "what a GREAT idea"!?! To have a problem free philosophy whenever life's little mishaps get the better of me.Well I don't normally go around saying "Hakuna Matata" when something goes awry in my life or I'm not having the best day. However, I do like the idea of having a certain phrase to say that will help ease worries, stresses and/or anxiety that occasionally pop up from time to time.
So of course, what is the first thing that came to mind when I thought about a problem free 'phrase' I can rely on when needed? Well not so much a phrase, but a NAME!
THE NAME!!
The ONE and ONLY NAME!!!
How about the mighty NAME(s) of GOD!!!! What else but the mighty name(s) of God can ease our worries, stresses, hurts, anxiety, and so forth. (See 'Names of God' below) And there are so many names to choose from, simply because He is MY everything...our EVERYTHING! One of my personal favorites is the name "Jehovah Shalom" meaning The Lord of Peace.
JEHOVAH SHALOM!! (Although it's pretty difficult to narrow it down to just one--I think I will interchangeably use a few depending on the circumstance - WINK WINK).
How about you? Do you need a "problem free philosophy ~ Hakuna Matata" phrase in your life?? Why not try one of God's names to ease your worries!!
You can search the list below to find yours ;-)
God Bless!

Very appealing. Our 2-year old granddaughter has the habit of saying "Happy" when she wants to convey her pleasure about something-just that word on its own-her speech at the moment is in that phase where it's just single words.
'Hakuna Matata' is the only Swahili I know but it's a very pleasant phrase to use, isn't it?
One of my favourite prayers is invoking the Mother of God-Mary: 'Mary, Immaculate spouse of the Holy Spirit -pray for us.'
Very nice globaleye! And how precious to hear the words "happy" coming from a 2 year old. Almost everything that comes out of my 2 yr old's mouth makes me smile, they are just so cute at that age!!
FYI: I loved your blog post "A Swell Event" (I read your post yesterday) and tried to post a comment, but for some reason the site wouldn't allow me to leave a comment. What a blessing to be married for so many years! Thanks for sharing their story.

So many Names! And with each one, He shows us another facet of His personality. I couldn't choose a favorite any more than I could choose a favorite of my kids, but I know the ones I need the most are Jehovah M'Kaddesh (The LORD who Sanctifies) and Jehovah Tsidkenu (The LORD of my Righteousness). Without those facets of my Father, I can't live with Him forever. But those just scratch the surface of the fullness of Who He is!
So true Marji!
